About Our Paint Correction
Paint correction is the process of removing imperfections in the finish of a vehicle’s paint, with the aim of restoring it to a better-than-new finish. The imperfections we target are (but are not limited to) swirl marks, fine scratches, water spots, etched bird feces, and marks caused by automated car washes.
To start the process, we spend between 2-4 hours prep washing the car using the 2 bucket method, we do this to remove tar and decontaminate the paint. After this, we panel-wipe the vehicle to ensure that the surface is clean and smooth, getting us ready to start with the paint correction.
Step 1
Compounding
The manufacturer of the car affects which pad and compound we use as some car manufactures have different hardness of paint. Choosing the right pad and compound minimises heavy paint removal and hazing to bring the right finish to the car.
Step 2
Removal Polish
Once a level of improvement is achieved, another stage of polishing is used to remove the hazing of the compound and bring a high gloss/reflective finish to the paint.
Step 3
(if required)
Sometimes a stage 3 is required, this is when there’s an exceptional amount of swirl and scratch marks after we have used an ultra-high aggressive cutting pad for first stage.
Step 4
Finish
Once all panels are finished, paintwork can then be protected with a paint sealant or hand wax which can last up to 3-6 months. Alternatively, we can offer a Ceramic Coating offering 2, 3 & 5-year protection which is more durable than standard paint sealant or wax.
